Haskins Discusses USDA’s Blocked Program for Minority Farmers

Attorney Jesse Haskins appeared on an NPR piece about a federal judge’s recent decision to suspend a USDA program designed to provide $4 billion in loan forgiveness and debt relief for minority farmers to help remedy past discrimination. As a legal authority on both agriculture and defamation law, Haskins states the judge’s opinion is based on the program not being narrow enough to help people who’ve faced discrimination. Additionally, it could even create a precedent against future assistance programs based on race.
